This is the topic of a paper I'm writing for my Philosophy class. It's a basic question of wether reality consists entirely of Matter (Physical substance, as asserted by Paul Churchland), Mind (Metaphysical substance, as advocated by George Berkely), or some combination of both (Either by a union of two substances, as supposed by René Descartes, or as two qualities of a single substance, as believed by John Dewey).
Now, I already have my opinions on the subject, which the paper will be about, but I wanted to go ahead and see what some other people might believe. What do you think is the nature of reality and its substance?
Of what does reality consist?

I don't see why there would need to be a distinction between the two. Not all physical substance can be observed directly, not all supposed "metaphysical" substances are beyond reach, so why make a distinction between the two? I generally don't like a lot of the assumptions involved in metaphysics, so I'm inclined to disagree with philosophies that rely on them for explanations. If something appears to be metaphysical, I would posit that it's simply a combination of physical phenomena that can't be fully understood or perceived by the human mind.
Or, more simply: the mind is matter. So why should "Matter" be separate from "Mind?"
