It never ceases to amaze me how the supposedly man-made concept of money can destroy lives like a natural disaster. Anyway, whenever financial crises and whatnot hit home, it seems to be like we were thrown into a casino and forced to gamble away our precious money, whether we want to or not. And if we do, most of the time it is the winners who keep winning. Economics and trade are supposedly for us to benefit from each other's strengths, but it seems things have taken a turn for the worse. That's how I feel anyway.
Could all of this have been avoided somehow? Was it an inherent downside of economics that has lead to a lot of angry protesters, or something even more fundamental?
I don't really plan on debating much here, but am interested in your opinions.
Stock Market = Casino?

It really is kind of like a casino... but with a bit of strategy too. It really is a lot like a game, only it is very real and pretty much our whole economy. I don't really like the stock market tbh.
The stock market helps aid in companies starting up or getting big. Which is great, but once a company is big, that is when it becomes a problem.

To me,stock market is gambling with skillz(and luck[a lot])
I think stock market screw people up more than it help, even worse when someone found ways to hack it,which might already happened...

1.) I find that comparison surprisingly accurate.
2.) How woud you hack the Stock Market? Better still, how would you manage to make enough of a profit off of it?

I agree with the comparision and I think humanity would be better off without the stock market. We never had a worldwide economic crises before there was the stock market. Now we've got two. On a daily basis, jobs are ruined and people kicked out because of the stock market and corporations buying other companies.
It's a self-destructive system and it's outright bad in my mind. Only greedy corporal leaders would like such a human declining system.

Yes, but long term.
For example, people who didn't sell their stocks during the market crash and held on to them (through various generations, obviously), are most likely obscenely rich today. It's a gamble, because you could lose a lot if you invest everything in it.
But the same goes for the slots.
