It annoys me that whenever I go to Aeju Muramasa's site and there's always that 404 Forbidden error that pops up unless you use some sort of proxy site to view the site. Honestly, I'm surprised that he hasn't noticed this, let alone fixed the problem. I haven't encountered that problem with any other doujin site but his.

Yep. It has been this way for YEARS. A long time ago he used to host his doujin stuff on the domain www.murasame.com, which worked fine for a while. Then one day I started getting 403 Forbidden errors whenever I tried to load something from a sub-domain. Since then, he migrated his site to www.platinedispositif.net, but the issue continued.

At first I thought that he just put a blanket ban on all foreign traffic, but when I eventually asked around, I found out that some people outside of Japan have no problems visiting his site. Hell, I can visit it just fine over my phone's 3G/HSPA+ connection. My main connection's IP address has changed dramatically over the years too, so I have no idea on what grounds traffic is being filtered. I have to use a proxy.

I was once told that this filtering is being done by his host so he probably can't do anything about it, but my memory is foggy. Also the fact that this has been going on for such a long time makes me really doubt that he is still unaware of the issue, but you never know. I once sent him an e-mail about it, hoping he could read English well enough, but that didn't really work out.

It's a shame because he has one of the better-designed doujin circle websites--lots of fun stuff to look at like Jongdemonium and GUNDEMONIUM SuperUltraSexyDeluxeGigapack2007summer.

That's odd, I can access the site without problems here. Are you guys in the US? (Never bothered to ask, my bad) He might be deliberately blocking certain locations. Maybe it could be a matter of just talking this, maybe he's planning to host scary h content so he doesn't want to get in trouble, who knows.

Or it could be that he used to be the usual ostracism-obsessed/racist doujin dev with that policy of "NO U" that forbids any filthy foreigner interlopers from looking at the site? The GwangeDash incident comes to my mind...

I'm in Canada. I don't think it's a block by country, because like I mentioned, I can access the site with my mobile's connection, but not with my broadband at home. Also, the proxy I regularly use to access his website is based in Pennsylvania.

It might be a block based on ISP, but I don't know what kind of signature the site's host is using to discriminate traffic.

Murasame has done H-content (man, how rare do you think these are?) before, but none of that is hosted on his site. And I mean, the filtering has been going on for years, so if he had plans to host H-content on his site, he would have done so already.

I think all evidence points to his host, but I wish I could (successfully) ask Murasame to look in to it.

...Another point to add to my list of reasons to study Japanese. -_-

There are two types of people in this world. Those that group everyone else as binary and those that don't.

I'm from the U.S. and the site blocks me off unless I use a proxy or Google-Translate-o-Horrors.

Looks like I have another h-artist to add to my list of favorite h-artists. Although seeing h-stuff from him wasn't so surprising (a loli clad in a Playboy bunny outfit and can magically enhance her breasts from being flat as an ironing board to packing Japanese H-cups a la` Yoko Matsugane, lulz). Once I get a PC, if I ever get one, I'll definitely start trying to learn Japanese (among Spanish - my piss-poor native tongue, and maybe Finnish).
