So spending a bit of time with my Mom these past few days I heard some pretty amusing things from her. And after that, I just noticed. ALOT of people are like this... Sad but true, and I just wonder, how can so many people these days, say and do things so ignorant, and not even ONCE even ATTEMPT to find out the truth or if they are really correct about their opinions/facts(in their view).

Some people go on for YEARS on end about the same ignorant things, and it's just so silly to me how they never actually listen to them selves and think, just once "Is this REALLY true?" "Am I wrong?" Here's a cool example. So we all know Halloween is coming up right? Me and my Sis brought it to my Mom's attention, we usually celebrated in Cleveland with the family. I didn't though just ate candy, but you get the idea. (Just got here with Mom in Atlanta).

So she says "And no we aren't celebrating Halloween this year it's the Devil's holiday.

Spoiler

Okay, first I'm going to say this, my Mom has NEVER looked into if that was true, even IF she's right how would she know? She only recently started this kind of "stuff". And my Mom isn't the only person who thinks that. And it's hilarious that most people who do, don't look into it either. HERPDERP people dress up as frightening things and induce fear in one another, since these are all bad things, we will assume it's the Devil's holiday since it's all bad even though we have no source of information and haven't even attempted to see if it's true HERPDERP. This is what I know most people think, because I heard this stuff over and over again. And been told.

Another example, my friend hates rude people and people who act rude towards him, now this one is lulzy. He's non-white. We have these people who live near us and one time they pulled up and almost hit his Mom's car, he called them racists. Why? They were non-myfriendsrace and rude. (They do that to EVERYONE here.) Also once, the pizza guy slammed the door in his face, he was racist. Why? He was non-myfriendsrace and rude. Another day, some lady at the store didn't say hi when he said Hello to her, she was a racist too, because she was rude and non-hisrace.

Why are they racist? Because they aren't his race and are rude. DERP. Now what happens when people are rude to him, that IS his race? They are just normal rude people to him of course. (The first derp wasn't derp enough.)

Spoiler

It's these kind of things I just don't understand, logically, you eventually HAVE to notice to question your ignorance? Atleast I thought so, how do people live with their selves just being ignorant on the daily basis? The SAME ignorant remarks back to back, over and over? You'd think atleast a subconscious thought would kick in, like "HELLO, YOU MAY BE WRONG YOU KNOW.". Why do people never think to question their own opinions/facts? I just have to know, it's hilarious.

My dad got a haircut today. I told him not to! Now it's even harder to tie a bow in his hair! He said he asked the person giving the haircut to just cut his hair a little, but she ended up cutting it much more than he wanted her to. Ugh, women can't do anything right. They really should stay in the kitchen.

Maybe it's just because people don't want to be proven wrong? Though knowing that the world is messed up you'd *hopefully* want to make a difference, and I wonder sometimes if it would have been better not knowing at all, would be a huge load off my shoulders that's for sure!

As they say: "ignorance is bliss"

Of course there's plenty of counter arguments, and there are those people that thrive to know more and try perfect themselves and everything around them, but it's not like everyone wants to or does think the same.

Because they just believe they're right and don't think to consider they could be wrong I guess. I dunno, I personally have an inferiority complex so I'm always questioning whether I'm right or not, even at times when the answer is pretty clear.

Double everything. EVERYTHING. Most importantly twice as much AP per level, which is so ridiculously broken that it basically makes you reluctant to train any time there isn't double-rainbow for fear that you'll be too high-leveled to benefit when there is one.

People like that are hilarious! Annoying, yes. But hilarious!
Why are they hilarious? Cause those kinds of things makes it that much more fun to mess with them.

But here's the deal: They really believe they are right. Its hard to convince someone otherwise if they truly believe that they are right.
And unless the person has an understanding streak in them (rare, I know) it will be next to impossible to prove to them otherwise.

So the correct answer is: Don't bother with it. That's just who they are. But if it bothers you more than enough, then bring it up.

Your friend might call YOU a racist, but then it's pretty damn ironic that he was friends with ya!
As for your mother....I'm very sorry to hear that. Go celebrate Halloween as much as you want. If she's a good mother, she won't have an aneurism over it and respect what you choose.
...as long as it doesn't involve killing people. If my kid killed someone, I'd turn him the hell in.

Well, if someone were to admit that they were wrong and being ignorant, then someone else would have to be right. This way makes it so that everyone is right. Then again there is always the view that we are the ignorant ones and everyone else is right; but that would be boring and cliched.
I'm never serious. Seriously.

Some people do want to be "perfect", but most would tel you that's impossible, though, It'd be awesome if we could atleast have more "in between" people, not ignorant nor perfect, way better than 75% ignorant. And yeah most dont want to be wrong, like my Mom. -_-

She acts like it attacks her dignity if shes wrong. It's what she said, any other possibility in MOST cases don't even register with her. Mom claims that ALL children HAVE to learn from their parents or they grow angry , depressed or rebillious, tried telling her it's possible for children to learn on their own, didn't wanna hear it.

Same here, seeing all these people I'm around I try my BEST to keep myself from becoming the way most people (around here atleast) are, it's just horrible to be so ignorant, I find it delusional even. But at the same time I make sure to note I am NOT better than everyone else around me.

100% Agree with this guy here. It only bothers me when my Mom acts this way, I hear this stuff all day. She isnt a HORRIBAD Mom, but like 60% of the time everyday atleast shes ranting or being ignorant. Like how she claims my Uncle filed for custody ofmy sister because he was being "Shady, nasty, backstabbing", when she doesn't even CONSIDER the fact he was actually trying to HELP while she was gone for years, just pisses me off. You have to look at intentions too sometimes. I see a murder on TV, I don't just go "OH HES A EVIL GUY LOOK HIM UP." He couldve killed in self defense but no one had evidence, maybe blackmailed? Anything.

It doesnt matter, I dont know anyone down here anyways, and I don't go trick or treating -_-

Indeed, but when you evidence and proof , you can back up the fact "you're " the right one. I'd deal with a perfectionist jackass anyday over a ignorant person, stuck up vs ignorant? Both bad, but atleast one makes sense and doesn't make you have to go to the E.R. for getting your face stuck to your palm.

Ignorance takes many, many forms, and assuming that it can be objectively assigned to people strikes me as, well... ignorant : /

Do I disagree with people? Sure. Do I lament the fact that they choose to remain ignorant about certain issues? Of course. But at the same time, I have to admit that I do the exact same thing, albeit in different areas. For example, I don't really like watching the news on a regular basis. Knowing about all of the bad shit going on in the world is depressing. I don't really have the mental capacity to take all of it in at once and not have it affect my daily performance. In a similar fashion, someone who's grown up in a region that tends to be highly racist will probably have a gut instinct to feel that other races are being racist when they're disrespectful to people not of their race. Same thing applies with people raised in highly religious households or communities and their perception of certain non-religious practices. It's a form of selective ignorance for the sake of comfort. A willingness to turn a blind eye to alternatives for the sake of maintaining a status quo or a comfortable, established lifestyle. Obviously it will create issues between groups that choose to be ignorant of different things, but I can guarantee you that everyone in the world has at least one thing about which they choose to remain ignorant. And to me, it's a natural thing to do.

I disagree with people, but I try not to judge them too harshly without knowing why they're ignorant about something. Often it's because of situations that are out of there immediate or comfortable control. In the same way I wouldn't judge a kid for thinking that girls have cooties, I wouldn't judge someone raised in a Fundamentalist Christian household for thinking that evolution is an anti-religious conspiracy. I would try to help give them more information about the matter, certainly, but in the end it's their own conclusion to make, and even if it's not the same one that you make it doesn't necessarily make them any more ignorant than you.

So I made a tumblr dream log for a friend of mine, but then I realized that all I dream about is nerdy stuff. BUT THAT'S NORMAL FOR DOUJINSTYLE SO YOU SHOULD HAVE A READ

No offense, but is there a (non-rhetorical) question somewhere in there, counselor?

My personal belief is that what people say and do is a direct reflection of who they are. People who choose to act in an ignorant fashion or let their emotions get ahead of themselves are people who lack guidance and self control. When you learn to step back from situations that cause you to become impulsive, you begin to see the truth behind the truth and you will live a much happier life.

I get this from a lot of people, especially those who challenge my religious beliefs. Not to get into details, but the point is that ignorance is something you will constantly encounter. You can try to respond in a couple of ways. You can simply accept it and move on, you can ignore it and the person, or you can attempt to find the truth behind their ignorance. This last choice is the one we need to take to change the world, but it unfortunately requires us to put ourselves in a vulnerable position and attempt to understand our adversaries. People are unwilling to admit they are wrong because they always want to feel "strong," even if their "strength" is the equivalent to winning a dick waving contest on the internet.

Anyhow, I wonder if you were expecting debate to form from this or if you wanted a tQP-esqe type of response.

You know what's more irritating than ignorance? Ignorance in NOT correcting someone who is "probably" wrong. I say something in the middle of an argument and the other guy just stops, shuns me, and leaves or decides to ignore me for a bit. I don't think what I said was wrong or incorrect, and the offended doesn't even care to correct me. Not that I care about this either in the long run, but seeing that type of ignorance can be humorous sometimes.

IGNorance is a Bli$$

Like really, saying BlazBlue Continuum Shift 2 repetitive but saying Super Street Fighter 4 an awesome sequel.

In real life example, my religious teacher labeled one of my best friends as a "non believer" because he hangs out with Muslims more. He labeled everyone "non believer" even though they only did bad things once. Like being late in Catholic class because having a very important essay, "That's just an excuse becuase you had no respect in this sort of things." Stuff like that. Want me to punch him in the face until he forgets how to breathe :|

And if I say "You're wrong" to these kinds of people, they will ignore it because they think "It's my belief".
