Well, like others have said, I think it's more that people are attracted to people who have similar facial features. I for one don't care about race when it comes to attractivity. I just look for attractive physique and facial structure.

I imagine, though, that there will be a similarity in facial structures among similar races, e.g. the facial structures of Chinese people tend to differ quite dramatically from those of African people but there are conserved motifs in the facial structures within each ethnic group.

It's an issue of nurture. Because I wasn't raised around girls of different ethnicity I wasn't attracted to them early on. Now however that has changed due to my recognition of it.

Seriously, people. Mating in humans, as in all animals, has a clear genetic component. Preferences in physical attraction are separate from racism. The more I look into it, the more I'm convinced that while race itself is not the deciding factor, there could be a trend toward preferring the physical features of people in racial groups more similar to your own. I don't think it's fair to say that it's entirely based on conditioning or classical genetics, though. It's most likely a combination of the two that leads to an ultimate effect that isn't yet well understood.

Double-edged sword. Some people prefer what they know. This also assumes that behavioral patterns among races lack variation, which I find not to be the case. I think in general we're talking more about physical attraction than emotional or behavioral attraction in this debate, though. Or at least, I hope so. It's almost impossible to try to generalize anything beyond what people would choose to have sex with.

Echoing the general sentiment in this thread, I, as a Asian/Malay, are attracted to white Asians/Sinic, European, and Malay girls.
And yes, I have never imagined being in a relationship with a black girl. Might be due to their general non-existence in this part of the world

fake edit: Right. I forgot about the Melanesians. So yeah, I just have *no attraction* to black girls at all, seems to be. Precarious. Is this hinting to a general trend among (male) Asians? I wonder if there's a scientific study about this....

I don't see this as being racist, You were just stating your preferences. There is a saying " to each their own". Anyways as for me I have no preference really on race.

I'd say no, you can easily be attracted to every race.
If you pass an attractive person, no matter what race (especially guys do this) and you're a group the first reaction is "DAMN!".
