I'm reading Serena by Ron Rash during classes which I don't have to do finals for. Serena herself is a great character, and the intimate scenes between her and Mr. Pemberton are very sweet.

Is it wro-wrong that I think it's kinda fun when I hit you in the back of the head with a gun?

Currently reading Ulysses, in the spirit of Bloomsday. From the first two chapters, it's actually not as tough as I thought it was going to be upon first starting it out. There are some parts which are confusing, as you hear what's going on in the mind of the character Stephen Dedalus, and he's... Quite neurotic, to put it lightly. I guess that's the stream of conciousness at work. I mean, here's an excerpt:

"Ugly and futile : lean neck and tangled hair and a stain of ink, a snail's bed. Yet someone had loved him, borne him in her arms and in her heart. But for her the race of the world would have tampled him under foot, a squashed boneless snail. She had loved his weak watery blood drained from her own. Was that then real? The only true thing in life? His mother's prostrate body the firery Columbanus in holy zeal bestrode. She was no more : the trembling skeleton of a twig burnt in the fire, an odour of rosewood and wetted ashes..."

I'll definitely have to get read annotated version later on, to get some of the more nuanced references.

I'm also reading Hurley's Concise Intro to Logic (I'm actually reading this more than Ulysses), but that's really just something for me to learn, not necessarily to enjoy (Although it is fascinating as fuck).

Last book I read was: Zen in the Art of Archery by Eugene Herrigel. It was pretty interesting. Originally an essay by a German professor in philosophy who moved to and worked in Japan pre-ww2 to learn about zen and studying a very spiritual branch of kyuudo to try understand the concept. It helped give a small understanding of zen to me who had problems with it before.

Currently reading Persuasion by Jane Austen.
