Just throwing this out right now, there was also a time when Guilty Gear had eight characters only. Saying they recycled sprites multiples times to have more characters than BB which only did it once so far isn't much of a good argument.

I personnaly like BlazBlue a whole lot more. All of the characters in GG are rather boring besides maybe Bridget which can land decent combos. But I wouldn't call BB better. BB also has this bullshit story which just annoys you by being way too long for a fighting game.

Guilty Gear's storyline is understandable.

BlazBlue? Welp fuck it, I don't wanna talk about it. It fucked up everything.

Guilty Gear's gameplay doesn't seems to hit me much.

BlazBlue gives me a heck of a gameplay. Really worth it.

Overall? It's a draw.

If you could care less for the story, get BlazBlue. If you DO care, meh, either or. I just like BlazBlue better due to REAL SOVIET DAMAGE.

I prefer BlazBlue. Well it was released just after I started to get into fighting games and is what I played and got into most.

Eh, I prefer Blazblue, I like the story, and it's just a smidge less over the top in what happens on screen during the fight than Guilty Gear. And it just plays better in my opinion too.

GG is like classic rock while BB is like pop rock

GG has more complex system, more colourful characters. the learning curve is a lot steeper but more rewarding and fun

BB is decent. the system is more beginner-friendly, combos are easier to learn and pull off. the story is mediocre at best. character designs feels less impressive than GG. bleh mori likes his girls flat and clumsy

if you want some challenges, go with GG; if you just looking for some quick fun, play BB. personally i like GG better

Guilty Gear is way better. How can anyone here say the character design in BB is better. It's all based off of Guilty Gear and various other sources. As far as the engines go the drive button is a cool Idea but it is ruined by the unintuitiveness of the regular attacks. Since when is forward B supposed to be a slow overhead?

why do people keep saying that Blazblue is easier to learn. I think the opposite. Sure I may not jump install and do 50+ hit combos using several roman cancels but as far as just getting the basics down to where I could play the game GG was easier to learn.

Also no one is mentioning that BB is a Visual Novel and yet still most of the people are saying GG has a better story. That is a clear sign that something is wrong.

BB has better resolution and beautiful backgrounds, but the animated sequences suck horribly (in terms of quality and length). Also all the characters looks so "generic anime" in BB.

Anyone who can call Faust, Zappa, or Eddie boring has bad taste in my book. Let alone the only character you like is pretty much a loli (although I do like his yo yo based fighting style). Don't get me wrong I think Bridget is a tasteful addition to GG but not the focus of interest in my book. Just a disagreement of personal taste as with all of my disagreements here.

GG you can just skip it and be on your way to the action. BB pretty much forces you to read way too much for a not-all-that interesting storyline that brings not much personality to the characters. If it was interesting at least. I only played Calamity Trigger so far though. Still debating which poor man's version of Continuum Shift I should get between PSP and Vita.

Plus he has a rather weird getup.

That's pretty much what I meant. I don't have fun playing anyone but Bridget in GG and maybe Millia. BB also has that problem but to less of an extent, as I like Noel, Nu-13, Ragna(because Tomokazu Sugita in a fighting game? fuckin bliss) and Arakune. BB isn't that much more godly than GG. But I still much rather like BB in almost every aspect.

The debate is still going?

It's the same thing. Get over it. I just found BB easier to play that GG and play them both.

Street Fighter 4 ? forward + MK.

When a player casts a spell, you will see the hand gesture is that of how homosexuals fling devil DNA juices at each other after a long night of fecal frenzy ass assassinations. This is subliminally teaching your children that they need to go in their rooms, demon whack their sin staff and produce sin milk into their hands and than fling it in the face of the first person they come in contact with after their taint tugging session.

Thats kind of recent. Maybe I don't like the direction fighting games are going in. I always thought of Forward B as a slower but longer attack like a poke. Back B should be a slow overhead.

I know there is a fine line between nitpicking and gereralizing but I have heard people say KoF and Street fighter are the same thing so I usually ignore this sort of thing. plus I like to argue about things I like (Guilty Gear) and dislike (Blazblue)

I still don't see how BB is easier except that it came with tutorials.

I say both, but when it comes to the music I think Blaz Blue does a bit better in the department compared to Guilty Gear.

Guilty Gear because of Ino.

In all honesty as much as I liked INO INO INO I'm more inclined to say BlazBlue seeing I've just had, well more fun with it. OFC, then again, it's probably cause I rarely got to play Guilty Gear with anyone.

Though one thing I will never get is BlazBlue's story...

Though btw, my choice is so biased as you can see.

As a veteran of both fighting game scenes, I'd have to say I liked GG's characters better, but the gameplay would go to BB.

overheads aren't all f+MK. ken's is b+MK and f+HK, while ryu and akuma's are f+MP. fei-long, sakura, and rufus were the only ones to have this notation of overhead, until super did when ibuki, juri, and they changed vega's f+MK to be overhead.

I don't like ground okizeme that comes from a tech roll system unless it's a 3D game, so I found myself never to like BB. When I get a knockdown, I want to my opponent to feel that they have less options than me.
Ground roll (Ukemi) is common in nearly all fighting games nowadays. My impression is getting knocked down means that you start fresh since your opponents combo has ended, which of course changed in MvC3. The point of the whole overhead thing was it being slow as all hell.

Vampire Savior and IaMP are the only games that I can think of at the moment that have ground rolls that work similar to BB's. Every other game I can think of, you can actually react to ground rolls and punish them, or they only tech in one way, making your pathway predictable.

The ground rolls in BB weaken the game's chance to have a more traditional ground based okizeme, which is mostly due to the lack of moves in the game to give true knockdowns. Ground rolls are good enough in BB where a player has to rely on predicting and reacting to which kind of ground roll their opponent will do, in order to properly punish it. That's why I made a reference to "3D games" (fighters).
I still don't get it. You chose one of three options (back, forward, or neutral). This is in most fighting games right?
