Orange Juice just recently announced a sequel to Acceleration of Suguri. The page for it is here:

There isn't much information yet, but there are screenshots and I think there may be an implication that it may be at summer Comiket.
A few things I've noticed:
-Hyper Gauge doesn't show a number, Hyper stocks may be shown beside Heat
-The results screen shows the length of a match
-The timer can be longer than 99 seconds (really useful for high handicap matches)

The trial is out on Orange Juice's site, which has changed quite a bit.

Playing with the keyboard is borderline insane. Dashing while doing alternate attack is a pain. And it doesn't seem like I can configure it.
Otherwise this game is GREAT. ROCKIN' ANDROID. RELEASE THIS SHIT ON PS3 ASAP.

What kinda annoys me with the controls is that they put the Cancel with the Dash button, which is V on the keyboard, just like they did with Sora. Why can't they go back to X being the Cancel button for menus?

The keyboard controls can be changed in exoption.txt, but you'll need the keycode numbers, which I don't know, though I think someone linked to a list of them in Sora's topic.
As for netplay, it seems to be more like 100% Orange Juice, where the server enters their IP and gets a code that the other person uses to join. I haven't tested it, so I don't know how good it is or anything.
I actually managed to get a video uploaded today:
I do like that they actually included Advanced Hyper activation, though it did take a little getting used to, since there's no indication that you pressed the Hyper button (as Shield is another button).
Also, I can't see a big difference between each difficulty, especially since Hard CPUs don't cheat anymore (which is a good thing). However, the CPUs are much harder than before (at least the lower difficulties), as I actually had to try to get an A on Easy, even though rank isn't as majorly determined by remaining life as before.
Another thing I realized is that despite Heat always deecreasing (unlike Sora, where it won't start decreasing until you stop dashing for a bit), I seem to have higher Heat than I expect a lot of the time.
