There have been lawsuits against emulators before, as well as against distribution of circumvention technology, so whether or not there is anything proprietary within the emulator itself doesn't seem to really matter. Russia or not, I'm sure that if CAVE really wanted to pursue litigation, they'll have options to consider. Honestly though, for them doing so is probably more trouble than it's worth.
Completely agree with you, although the fact that it usually takes Microsoft for the russian government to crack down on piracy, and that they have nothing even remotely like the DMCA or that idiotic french law makes me thing a legal action there would do little to nothing, especially considering how:
  • the emulator does not contain proprietary code from CAVE
  • the emulator is not sold
  • now this is more hearsay than anything, but I think CV1000 boards actually have no protection whatsoever, resorting rather to security through obscurity, that is the sound chip and the data extraction method via JTAG
  • last but not least, both games are unlikely to be re-released in remastered form, thus leaving the advantages of legal action on thin ice. Plus, am I mistaken or both Ibara and Mushi are Taito ports whereas DOJ was ported in-house, hence drawing in licensing troubles?
Anyway, we will see. I personally wouldn't mind seeing "innocuous" games be included while leaving truly dangerous stuff - i.e. DaiFukkatsu outside the loop. Plus, there's always the little detail that these games require actual dumping, and I doubt a collector would risk frying his board :)

They just finished emulating the audio not too long ago, so at this point I would hazard a guess that they're trying to nail the slowdown, which is quite difficult to get right. Also, they aren't just emulating CAVE hardware, so there are other things to work on besides that.
Ouch, it's going to be hellish unless they manage to pinpoint exactly how slowdown is calculated/generated/scripted/whatever...
As for the other features of Demul, honestly I think there's just a handul of things to improve or fix, thankfully long gone are the days of Icarus! On a sidenote, sometimes I get the feeling DC and PS2 are going to be the emulation scene's swan song. Just a personal vibe, keep in mind.

I know it's not CAVE, but those Russian Demul screenshots show Illvelo as well.
Has anyone got a link to an Illvelo rom cos I bet you could play that in Makaron eh?

Well Illvelo rom appears (as "not working") in new MAME set and...

...Demul 0.5.7 r1067 (with working sound apparently) has just appeared on the interweb as a newsgroup release from Milllenium RG.
I don't got no newsgroup subscriptions but if anyone has do they fancy getting it and putting it up for us non-sceners?

And let the comedy gold being, don't forget of that. :D I can imagine egos exploding if we can get Futari at a decent speed with sound. An infinite, lovecraftian circle of doom and awesomeness!

Okay fine, either the greatest trolling ever known to the emulation community since last friday night (pun intended) or emulation is now so damn close I can feel something poking my leg.

I'm tempted to just pull the trigger, donwload the thing and attempt a crack. But what if the distance further decreases? Jokes aside anyway I have my money on "fake", seeing how TMG was in its heyday a producer of keygens, i memory serves me right.

Little bit of google-fu shows a Chinese forum which looks like it has this new TMG release. only a matter of time before it gets onto the likes of rapidshare.

Did that aswell but it seems it's a BBS just like all the others: my opinion is that either this is one hell of a trolling or the release is legit but circulating on private channels - not unlike the TypeX rips.
I've managed to grab a hold of part of the "memphis" release, but AES is still rather... "difficult" to crack.

BTW: nice avatar... does put a little more "ouch" to the X series' manliness though. As if Zero's hair wasn't enough.

Looks like I failed full force :) For some reason I thought it was a "feminized" version of X.
As for the BBS, looks like things have evolved quite a bit: I last checked before my work shift and they were just talking in putative terms. Impressive indeed.

EDIT: from what I can make of it, looks like it's the same version released in the newsgroups. Or is it?

I'm suspecting what they have over there is the r1080 release, sans password. Probably the current one circulating the newsgroups now. Still just a matter of time before they go big, from the looks of things (these leaks seem bleeding-edge)

If you are feeling adventurous, have a fast PC (preferably with lots of CUDA cores) and a few eons to lose, then click here to get your very own collection of the latest three Demul purported leaks, for your cracking pleasure )

Cave SH3 games are now available through MAME but with no sound and not completely up to full speed (some games are running 100% though).
Here's the latest 64-bit build
http://www.sendspace.com/file/etcnw5
I didn't upload this. Still waiting on a 32 bit compile but you can grab the latest files from the MAME site.

Just finished a run of Muchi Muchi Pork. :D

I'm still looking for MMP, Ibara, first Mushi, and MushiFutari ROMs. ;.; I have no idea where to get them. Help, anyone?

Some games running 100% only means that your computer's specs aren't hindering the emulator. The only slowdown that is actually emulated right now is the slowdown that was deliberately programmed into the games by CAVE. The slowdown brought about by pushing the actual PCB hardware to its limits hasn't been emulated at all.

It's also quite possible that MAME will never officially support sound in these SH3 CAVE games due to potential MPEG licensing issues (the verdict on this isn't out yet, however); of course, the key word here is "officially". ;)

No 32 bit build yet ? I really want to try this but can not :(

Btw can anyone post a list of newly supported cave games , as well as downloads of them ?

thanks.

btw I wonder if emulation is playable but no sound supported , can anything be done by using samples , like was done for batsugun in past ?

Here are the latest builds available, compiled by posters on Shmups Forum. The 32-bit build is a few revisions behind so it might not be as well-optimized. If you can run 64-bit applications, go with the 64-bit version as you should see a notable performance boost.

32-bit: http://www.mediafire...oyiude6b67jhw3q
64-bit: http://www.sendspace.com/file/etcnw5

As for games that are supported, I could be wrong on some of these, but Guwange Blue (for whatever reason, its ROM is apparently private), Mushihime-sama, Espgaluda II, Ibara, Ibara Kuro, Mushihime-sama Futari 1.00/1.5/BL, Muchi Muchi Pork, and Deathsmiles. Pink Sweets is not dumped yet, apparently. Dai Fukkatsu and Akai Katana are probably still too new to be included in MAME. Deathsmiles II runs on different hardware.

If the audio is MPEG then it won't be officially included in MAME. But since MAME is sort-of open source, I would imagine that someone might be willing to put out a build with the sound working, but I might be underestimating the complexity of this task. Now if the games' sound hasn't been dumped, then I'm guessing hacks involving samples would have to be done.

Personally I'm just waiting until 0.144 to get into all of this.
