BUT this is still mame, so users of oldest computers cant say this is "fun". So, we wait for some FBA clones? FBA Shuffle?

New version of Cave SH3 specialized Mame version !

Okay, some news that will make some people unhappy.

CAVE sent the MAMEdev team a Cease & Desist letter. The next version of MAME (143u9 144) will not have CV1000 support so none of the new CAVE games will work on it.

So, what does this mean? Haze explained that we gained a lot of knowledge about this hardware, which is the important thing. Remember--the purpose of MAME isn't to play games; it's to document the hardware. Next, and possibly even more importantly, Haze said that the CAVE SH3 driver will be added back at some point in the future. We just don't know when. CAVE is still making money off older CV1000 games like Espgaluda II and Deathsmiles.

There are intermediate builds to play with too. Even though none of them have accurate slowdown, it's better than nothing, right?

As for Demul, I would put money on them having received Cease and Desist letters too. In fact, it's probably why the Demul team has been silent for a number of months now. CAVE had Demul videos on Youtube taken down a while ago, and I am confident that they didn't just stop there. But Demul is Russian and I am no legal expert, so I have no idea how things will proceed on this front. I don't personally believe that Russia is invincible from international lawsuits in this day and age, but like I said, I'm no expert.

Check the Too Close For Comfort thread on Shmups Forum for sources. I just got out of surgery a few hours ago and I can't be assed to cite them here.

Don't you mean 144 will have the drivers removed?v143u9 is already out and has SH3 support.

Oops, you're right! I misread something in the TCFC thread. I blame the painkillers from the surgery.

Yeah, 143u9 will the last official MAME build to play CV1000 games until some time in the future. It also just occurred to me that all this stuff is open source, so I suppose there's nothing stopping other people from working on the drivers until they get they get the slowdown right and releasing a separate build of MAME that is dedicated to the CV1000 games or something.

Cheers clessx. I've got a very basic dual core PC but this version seems a lot faster than the others. Pink Sweets and Muchi Muchi are partially playable now.

So ,anyone knows the correct settings for slowdown for each game ? For some reason only Ibara runs slow for me (about %70 speed most time) , I thought it strange since newer games like MMP and Mushi Futari BL run much better

Well, well, well, this is by far one of the most awesome things I've seen in a while. Big thanks for pointing this out!!!! I was indeed having problems with Mame and such.

Just mentioning: Win7 64-bit really makes the difference. I just changed the OS from WinXP SP3 and got most of the games at a playable speed (85%-100%). In fact, Mushi runs at full speed.

How often do full rompacks come out? The last one I can find is revision 142 which ill have to update to 144. It would be nice to time my MAME updates to when these are released.

If you're planning on upgrading your roms to 144 here's a big warning . . .for some reason the devs decided to add fruit machines and pinball stuff which makes the latest download over 11 gigs I believe. I gave up on a complete rom audit because i don't want all this crap clogging up my H/D. I just downloaded the video game roms (the fruit machines all have weird names so you can soon spot them).

Pisser is . . .even if you wanted the fruitys, most of them don't even work (just like the CHDs where only a few actually work and you're lookin' at billions of gigs worth of games that don't run)

after playing a few roms, mame constantly crashes forcing me to re-extract the file in order to play the games again. any insight on this? should I get a different mame?

Know nothing about Vista, encephlon, but how are you launching your MAME roms. Are you using a front-end GUI or launching from command line ?
