My old video:
What can I say about this game? Another testimony that CAVE should port their stuff on PC, that Hellsinker truly carved a throne in the doujin Valhalla and, well, a vivid showcase of what you can do at ridiculously small resolutions without the restrictions of a portable device.
The music seems to have changed a bit from the version I got and the whole mechanics feel far more refined and more over the top, with several cues to Crimzon Clover in terms of "numbers everywhere", massive epic overloads and flying mechanical serpents with several parts ALSO on Stage 3. Not a bad thing I tell you, actually, this game is just so fucking awesome I can't wait to see it finished. Can't believe something so good arrived after the Messiah King Crimzon Motherfucking Clover stomped the ground?
Believe.
The official site contains the download to the latest version, 0.50 at the time of the creation of this topic. I don't know if this will be free. Maybe, with luck, it might be. If it's going to retail, it's an instant-buy for me.
edit: no, seriously, it's really awesome. TRY IT NAO.

Digression aside, this game is awesome. The visual style just works, and the difficulty is pretty high as well (or maybe it's because I just jacked the rank up too high?).
Sleeper hit of C80?

There's a whole slew of weapons to select if you press left or right on the difficulty select screen. Pressing C (or Shot (Speed)) will set it to 'asist-off', but I'm not sure what that does.
I'm really liking this.

1) How does having blue energy items in stock modify the score from the pink scoring items when anchoring/bombing? (I still seem to get score when energy=0 but, as you say, then rank increases)
2) What causes the medals (pink pyramids surrounded by circles) to be generated and how does their points value increase?
3) Yeah- what does "assist" do?
4)What difference do the "score display" options make? There's a choice of "blinking", "grid" and "none" but I'm not noticing any changes to anything.
This is a real quality game though and an unexpected gem from C80 along with Satazius

Energy Items (blue) don't affect your score, as far as I know. As long as your Energy Item stock is above 0, being anchored to an enemy won't raise your rank. Also, destroying an anchored enemy will convert all bullets on the screen into Score Items (pink). When your Energy Item stock is 0, the rank counter will quickly increase for as long as you are anchored to an enemy--every time it goes up by 1.000, it gets reported on the screen. You can see the exact decimal value when you pause. Also, when your Energy Item stock is at 0 and you destroy an enemy you are anchored to, all bullets on the screen only get canceled. When you max your Energy Item stock at 512, killing enemies that you are not anchored to will cause them to drop Score Items instead of Energy Items.
Medal Items appear to be generated when you destroy an enemy that you are anchored to. Every time you collect one, the value of the next one increases. The value decreases when you let them fall off the screen, I think.
Anchoring to an enemy and then canceling the anchor will clear the screen of bullets (like a bomb), so it can be used defensively in this way. Doing so takes a chunk out of your Energy Item stock, however.
Assist basically highlights bullets that are likely to come in contact with your hitbox in red. I'm not sure what the Score Display setting in the Config menu does--I think it's just something visual but I haven't noticed anything personally.

Woah, can't really help you with your own question, but thanks for letting me know about all the cool stgs DL site Japan has that didn't make it to the English site. ring^27, Twilight Insanity, Steel Saviour??? How do they have Steel Saviour when you can't even get it from any european sites?!! (as far as I know) It's not that hard to navigate DLsite japan if you run DLsite english side by side in a separate window.
There is no way Gunhound is worth $60.
Sometimes I have to take the attitude with Japanese Developers that I do with celebrities like Michael Jackson. I love their work, even if I don't like them as a person. If an American indie developer said, "no, I don't want my games being played by japanese gamers, I'll walk away from that money," he'd be the biggest jagoff in the world.

Also I got the Secret in Stage 1 by hovering over the partially formed ring until it becomes a full ring. Not sure what generates it though.
Are there Secrets in any of the other stages?
(Also what other game do you get a bonus for hovering over a partial ring? it's on the tip of my tongue...)

More specifically, after you activate a ring, every time an enemy bullet passes through the ring, it spits out Score items for you.
