I would get an image that this forum is all about touhou/animu, which it isn't.

I would probably say to keep the banner and that type of stuff monochrome or atleast a colour that isn't conflicting with the various themes that the site has or might have.
The style is in or what's on it doesn't matter to me tbh, but just as long it isn't elaborate in such it's an eye sore depending on the theme of the forum a user has.
My 2 cents tbh.
I also like all the banners y'all made prior to this post.

1. I have done some research and am still doing some research, but I think the idea of multiple themes and colors is going to work just fine. I am going to find a way to implement faster changes of the theme without actually changing the theme, thus different color schemes via different CSS files.
2. We are going to get one or two professional themes and modify them to give them the DS look and feel. People will be able to choose from these.
3. Our custom themes will be put together by the community.
There are no set standards at the moment for the custom themes, once I have the pro themes I will let you guys know the image specs, names, file types, and other features.

I don't know of any feature that would allow us to use an older IPB theme on the newer framework, so I don't think that is an option here. I could be wrong, however.

I am currently getting some help from a professional designer into better understanding the template system that IPB uses in order to manipulate the look and feel of the forums. Once I am able to bring more information to this thread, there will be a major update with a few ideas, some actual standards for the operation, and ideas to use our own graphics within the theme.

That's the opposite of what you need for custom theming. Most themes don't use the same image sizes as the original IPB theme because they are built from the ground up. Sometimes they are similar sizes but the entire concept is to redesign, not to just reskin. If you're reskinning, you're not making a theme.
