That helps, though an item shop translation would be grand!

I just had a couple games, failed at a 1cc due to the final stage seeming to last forever. Started it with 4 lives, ended with.. well, a game over >=P.

Anyway, I've noticed some odd things. I personally, have no slowdown, at ALL...Yes, this means the game is mad hard, I noticed in the options menu there was a vsync and a clock setting, switching to clock made the background chug a bit for me, so I opted for vsync. Perhaps clock is what it used to be, and/or what aisha was using to get his own slowdown *shrugs*.

I also noticed that the lock on missles don't seem to be capable of locking on multiple times on the same target anymore, this is rather unfortunate since it added an element of strategy imo. Is there an item that fixes this? I noticed that in one of the "super" modes, they CAN lock on like 20 times on one target (in rapid succession as they are supposed to), but without it, I just get the standard 4 blast.

Last, I'm not really sure why the manual things "type-c" is good for beginners, it definitely seems like the inferior type. It has less weaponary, no homing attacks, no blade (which is actually a pretty cheezy tool in that you can get out of a sore position by doing that teleport-blade invincibility attack), and no super mode thingies which come with bullet chances without eating up bombs! I don't mind though, intentional imbalance can be fun at times, I know I love the imbalance in games like advance wars for example. Sometimes you want to play a gimp character for a challenge, and other times you feel like pawning face.

Next time imma play with the clock mode on so I can see how much slowdown I get. I hope it's like the old version and not some kinda wonky perma slow easymode.

No, I leave it on vsync. My FPS drops to 30-40 when there's a lot of stuff on the screen. I think it's intentional because if you watch TRIS-GRAM's video of Area 1 the same thing happens to him. It doesn't make the game any easier though.. haha.

As for an item shop translation, I made this after the 0.30 trial was released: pastebin.com/2fYKy11P Mind, I can't read Japanese any better than a mentally damaged chimp, so expect errors. Having said that, it's awkward to say that I might be able to put together an English manual since TRIS-GRAM's technical writing is pretty clear so I can make sense of about 90% of it.

It would be useful if everyone collaborated on putting together a list of unlockable accessories.

Oh, I was responding to a quote on page 6 so I didn't see you already did a translation already, Aisha. Whoops.

Nah, it's okay. I got a few things mixed up, like Black Heart and Emergency AI. :P

It seems like TRIS GRAM is upset about something and subsequently dropped all English support for the game now and and in the future.

Thanks for the item translations, though I'm kinda hoping they're off, because otherwise the vast majority of the items are pretty much downgrades overall!

Mmmm, I wonder what triggered this. People at Comiket or that this version got filtered around before he even put it up at DLsite? I'm curious now... I was still going to get it no matter what. However, if he is dropping the english support because he can't be bothered building a manual so complex, I'm actually fine. We can always do the archaeology and figure the stuff out, I think it's part of the fun by now =P

Still, Aliquantic asked something to Tris-Gram, we might get our answer in the schmukmup forums.

I'm very curious too. He isn't just dropping non-Japanese support for Stellavanity, but for future works too. I think it's because of the piracy, to be honest, but I really hope it isn't. If that's true...ugh, I can't find the words to accuratly describe how I feel about it, but it doesn't sit well with me; I'm sad that it drove him to that decision. Nevertheless, if my contact wasn't able to acquire the game for me at Comiket, I'll just buy it from DLSite (I'd really like a physical copy, however..). If it's because of the manual, I'd be happy to edit a rough translation, but it would probably be better to have someone fluent in Japanese handle all of that. From what I've read, the manual is pretty basic--it just describes the various game systems but it doesn't reveal any of the fine details about them and the score system, so that leaves plenty to figure out on our own, which I also find enjoyable. I don't think we'll ever be able to figure it all out without hacking the game though.

I'm enjoying the drop rate boosts, and am aiming to get the Blade Concentrator +. It's not like it would affect Raid much!

Google translate is so off I wouldn't really think too much about what that latest blog post looks like it says. Just cuz it seems to be understandable doesn't mean it's accurate. For all we know he could be saying that he has no idea why people got the impression he was going to have English support in the first place, and it was never intention. I don't know.

Still though, I'm hoping he'll release it overseas on DLSite later on, I would like to buy it myself. Normally I ask forza to keep an eye out for this game's release for me, but this year I'm tight on cash at this particular moment.

Well I just read it and your interpretations are accurate. He clearly states that english support will be stopped for Stella Vanity and all future products.

He makes the remark that: "For those of you who are wondering why it has come to this, I ask the ones who have an idea (implied: those guilty) put a hand across their chest and reflect upon it." It's a well used phrase in Japanese to point out situations where it is the guilty who are complaining about the repercussions of their actions.

So yeah, he's probably pissed about piracy, and is pointing out that the people who are angry about the stop in english support are probably pirates or overlook piracy regularly. If I take myself for an example, he's dead on, so I can't really be angry he's taking action.

Anger isn't something you should feel IMO, but if that's true it's a pretty immature knee-jerk reaction.

Fact is there are likely just as many, if not more Japanese pirates for his game as otherwise. In addition, he's punishing more people than just pirates, some people roll their eyes when they hear a pirate say they intend to buy a game they pirated, but there ARE some out there that mean it. I'm one such person, and I think Aisha is too.

Anyway I'm not angry, I'm sad that the dev thinks his best course of action is to hurt some of his customers, AND himself, just to "get even" somehow. It's his decision, and he can do as he likes, but it's a really disappointing decision to make, regardless of if you"re a pirate or not.

You and Aisha buy your games, good on you two, I respect that; but the fact of the matter is that for every one of you there are, there are probably tens of me. Dirty, leeching, pirates like myself flock to forums like Doujinstyle and hell, take a look at my C81 thread, it's quite literally there making piracy even easier. Sure, he's punishing more people than just pirates, he's punishing proper fans like you and Aisha too, but with the majority of this "punishment" falling upon pirates (at least it seems that's what he believes when he did this), I feel like his action is completely understandable. Even if it's ineffective.

These doujin developers are completely helpless against piracy. Maybe they still make profits even with piracy, but the truth of the matter is that the piracy is keeping these developers from making the real profits they deserve. With guys like me shamelessly stealing from them every day... He probably just wanted to do SOMETHING, even if it hurts himself and doesn't do shit against piracy. It's not the best course of action, no, but if I were in his shoes and I had it in my mind that the majority of American users playing my games stole it, I might do the same thing. It's not smart or fair, but it's still understandable.

Well, yes, the comments here are spot on. I just had deathpiyo ask him what was wrong and the question only made him even more angry. Whoever got this at Comiket, Tris-Gram knows (especially if it wasn't a japanese guy) and it makes him even MORE mad. The short answer is: all doujin devs HATE with passion that kind of attitude (the upload 2-days-later thing).

According to the answer he gave: 2 days after Comiket, the game was already in the torrents. I assume he questions who will ever buy whatever he puts up for sale if what he was planning to sell is already out there in the wild, before being even released officially outside of Comiket. "Thus, foreigner scum ruined the party." (This is me here, trying to figure stuff out =P)

Man, this truly was a mess... Guess it really was the only high profile title this time around. But with all this attention, he really should channel it into something positive but I fear he'll just refuse any further dialogue in english. Hope that won't halt development as well. Dammit, you know, this is something I was fearing and foreseeing through this month. Especially following his blog posts... Too much attention is like Icarus flying too high and close to the sun.

But this situation is somehow bad circle. "Foreigner scums" won't buy indie game that cost more than typical AAA game when they don't understand a word in Japanese language. I don't say if every doujin game has english version that everybody stop downloading stuff and buying japanese indie games, but... you know.

I still think it's awfully judgmental to assume all the pirates are foreign...

But did you (or anyone) check where the filtered version comes from? It's a honest question, I'm wondering this myself... I think it was someone from /jp/ or one of those places who was at Comiket? It makes it all the worse if he met the guy(s) in person. Japanese business language is full of terribly formal protocols and manners, doing something like this is seen as a brutal treason or worse, pretty much like picking a business card and storing it without even looking at it (also a big offense). Have someone hold a grudge at you and it'll be Hell on Earth...

If it was a japanese who did this, he must be hidding well somewhere because the effects are even more devastating between them to the point of making you a pariah. There is a lot that has to be inferred, a lot of things that you have to read between the lines to get things right, that's why one thing is speaking/reading japanese 'normally' and the other is getting the layers of hidden meanings behind.

Welp I just tried playing with the clock graphics setting on instead of vsync, and I still get no slowdown at all, and I KNOW I had it back in the trial versions. My GFX card isn't even all that fancy, just an 8800GT, which is what. 4 generations old now? >=P
