For 3 stage boss my strategy is doing a rotation for the first time, then for the second use the break mode, rotate again waiting for break mode ready then use it again. Normally it'll be over at 4th rotation.

I think it's also done on purpose, forcing you to have the Break mode ready and use it in the very last millisecond before it catches you, then jump to the core of the boss with a full lock-on and start hammering it until you run out of invincibility to deal massive damage.

Ideally, you might be able to survive and trigger the escape before it launches those damn lasers again.

I stopped playing the game for two weeks but couldn't resist it and went back to it today. It's just so awesome... I love the music on stage 3 (it's somewhat serious yet fast paced) and how the insects seem to move at the same beat. Also, the enemy design. A lot of cool ships and mechanical beasts coupled with insects that seem straight out from a hellish, dark and gritty Mushihime-sama without the lolis.

Firmest candidate to seat with Hellsinker, Kamui, RefleX and Diadra Empty.

Well honestly, forcing the player to use a bomb for a certain attack (even if they are rechargeable) is lame.
aside from the massive input lag, it is one of the best shooters I've played so far though, I really like it. And don't bash lolis, loli-shooters can be good!

Can't say I'm a big fan of your other best list though. Reflex is too easy once you know what to reflect, hellsinker is clearly well-done, but I just can't enjoy it for personal taste reasons. Diadra empty was fun for awhile, but after I learned how to play it, I felt like it was really little more than bursting around shooting with no actual bullet-dodging. You simply stop bursting in relatively open areas, recharge the guage there, proceed bursting until you find a new safe spot, repeat. Kamui seemed really cool though. Anyway CC really seems to be an ordinary traditional shmup with some flashy weaponary for the player, and fun bullet patterns to avoid. Along with absolutely excellent stage designs. I've never enjoyed playing a shmup's actual stage content so much without memorizing it before (most are boss-oriented for me).

Would anyone be so kind as to upload the file you get from Vector onto rapidshare or megaupload or anything?. I've been trying to get the demo for a while now and it looks like I'm having some sort of problem with the vector website. Thanks.

Check if this download from Megaupload works. I won't keep it online for too long considering a lot of authors are not fans of "redistributions" without warning.

But that should do it if Vector is being a bitch at the moment.

Damn. I thought Stage 1 was forgiving.
Entered S2 boss with five lives (for the first time) and finished with two. Lost both to the S3 mid-boss (what the hell is with that lazor) and game over'd on the spam afterwards.

heh, another one who also plays shooters at that hour! (I tend to do a lot better for some reason...)

For that mini-boss, you'll want to trigger your BREAK MODE after the first two laser shots, before it can corner you, then you can pummel away with lock-on guided laser missiles glory and finish it off with regular shots on its second form (avoid the Break mode there because it'll make the attack pattern a pain in the ass and you will want to have at least the bomb ready for the incoming enemies).

That stage is just so fucking intense... And the boss is brutal. Well, all bosses are so badass in the game so far.

tbh, I think the stage 1 boss is kinda boring~

But then again, it's a stage 1 boss.

the game doesn't work for me. I get a blank screen on startup, but I can hear the music on the menu.

VicViper Vs R9, will the eternal struggle between them ever end. only time can tell.

I think that's a driver issue, I had the same happening to me. Update to the latest drivers and DirectX and that should do it.

Koikon> Yeah, Stage 1 is "just" a tank but if you take out both the cannon and the turret it'll go berserker on the player. And I hope they keep it somewhat hard on Unlimited, although not impossible as it is now...

I also like how the stage 2 midboss goes crazy once you take out the two floating options.

After seeing what the boss does after taking out those 2 turrets, the boss gained +2 awzm points. It's firepower goes up to almost unlimited once you break those turrets..... (I wonder what would happen if you'd take those turrets out on unlimited mode? :P )

And about the stage 2 midboss, I never managed to take out the floating options, since that always got me killed. :x

EDIT: Okay, I just killed the 2 options of the stage 2 midboss (which is actually surprisingly easy, during break mode).
I only have one thing to say: WTF. How am I supposed to dodge that? D=

I lost 3 lives right after blowing up the midboss' options. ;_;

Personally, I like it when you can destroy parts of a large ship in shooter games...But I don't like how blowing up 9 out of 10 cannons on a big ship makes that one cannon somehow shoot 5X more bullets than all 10 combined.. wut tf.

Personally hoping that they tone down the difficulty on the Normal Mode and, of course, making the Easy Mode something accessible for once.

I like the normal difficulty, I'm hoping they tone down the ultra difficulty or whatever it was called. simply surviving 1 stage on that difficulty makes 1ccing lunatic PoFV look easy.

1cc'ing PoFV is easy. now do it without taking a single hit. with every character. on both Lunatic and Extra. Still seems easier than this on Unlimited

Bull, shit.

I'm not talking about using broken against CPU characters like Aya or Medecine. That's like thinking you're good at MoF for abusing Marisa's broken laser. People who 1cc no bomb lunatics in the whole series can't 1cc lunatic PoFV normally >=P

Even if it WAS as easy as an ordinary touhou, I'm talking about stage 1 here, not the whole game, the first bloody stage.

That was aimed at Formless God, who probably hasn't properly sat down and unlocked all characters in all modes (let alone performed flawless runs on all characters on Lunatic and Extra - the LATTER of which borders on an exercise in masochism, as the final level slaps you with a timer of over 2 minutes if you haven't died at all to that point)

also, note the exact phrasing: EVERY character. Sure, Aya and Medicine (and technically Tewi due to autobomb, under a loose interpretation of "not being hit") would be the easy ones, but you also have to use Komachi and Sakuya and Reimu and the rest of the characters.

also, don't tell me I suck. I have a bit of genuine experience at Twinkle Star Sprites clones like PoFV, which is why I don't have a problem with a .5-to-5 handicap against me. (speaking of TSS, you try 1cc'ing it on level-8 AC difficulty and tell me how well that works out without ANY warmup).
